The Commission for Revenue Allocation, The Ministry of State for the Development of Northern Kenya and the Arid Lands and the United Nations Millennium Campaign is organizing a Breakfast Panel Discussion on “Growth Strategies, Equitable Development and Revenue Allocation.”

Participants will be drawn from Government Ministries, Commissions, Civil Society, Academia and development partners. International experts in the field of fiscal allocation and devolution drawn from Brazil, India and Ethiopia, will be present.

Kenya’s Constitution setting the New Republic has been widely praised for its emphasis on issues of equity, inclusivity, and accountability as articulated, for example in the national values and principles of governance (Article 10). The principles of public finance (Article 201) require that the public finance system ‘shall promote an equitable society’; that ‘revenue raised nationally shall be shared equitably among national and county governments’; and that ‘expenditure shall promote the equitable development of the country, including by making special provision for marginalized groups and area.’

You are all welcome to participate and cover the briefing.
