Ashoka Arab World is proudly participating in the 5th Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) as a Knowledge partner. The summit will take place in Marrakech, Morocco starting from November 19th until November 21st.
GES 2014 will bring together over 3000 entrepreneurs, together with heads of state, high level government officials, global entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), corporate leaders, and young entrepreneurs. There will also be an “Innovation Village”, in which Ashoka Arab World will participate, where entrepreneurs and innovators from Africa and around the world will be able to promote their projects and share new ideas on myriad topics including ICT, water management, and alternative energy.
As knowledge partner in the GES 2014, Ashoka Arab World will be participating with a session on social entrepreneurship, titled “Social Entrepreneurship: What is it and Why is it Important?”. This session aims to address contemporary issues around the field of social entrepreneurship, its meaning and the associated objectives, challenges and opportunities. Additionally, the session aims to explore different insights from leading social entrepreneurs and experts around the globe in an attempt to find an answer to a number of critical questions, including; why is social entrepreneurship particularly important at this historic moment in our lifetime, and what is social entrepreneurship’s promise to our world?
The session will be led and facilitated by Dr. Iman Bibars, Ashoka Arab World Regional Director and Ashoka Global Vice President. The other speakers include Ashoka Fellows, the world’s leading social entrepreneurs; Maysoun Odeh Gangat (Palestine), Founder and Director of Nisaa FM, Fidaa Abu Turki (Palestine), Founder and Head of the Board of Directors, Irada Incubator, Zaher Radwan (Lebanon) Founder and Head, Green Hand, Kingsley Bangwell (Nigeria) Founder of Youngstars Foundation and Barclay Paul (Kenya) Founder and CEO of Impact Africa Industries.
