Industry and government are looking forward with anticipation to Innovation Africa 2015, which will see the largest number of ministers and government officials at Africa’s leading annual education and ICT forum taking place at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Uganda this 30 Sept to 2 Oct.
Attendance from African ministerial delegations are set to smash previous records. Up to 30 African countries will be represented at the summit, allowing for industry leaders and investors to engage in pre-scheduled meetings with ministers and officials.
The summit will be a buzzing hive of activity of movers and shakers as 200 government officials will be participating, these consisting of ministers, secretaries of state, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries and director generals.

Kenya – Ministry for Education, Science & Technology
- Hon Prof Jacob Kaimenyi, Cabinet Secretary
Prior to his appointment Prof. Kaimenyi was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs and Professor of Periodontology at the University of Nairobi.
Prof. Kaimenyi has worked at the University of Nairobi as a full Professor of Periodontology, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in the Periodontology and Periodontics in the Academic Department of Dental Surgery between 1985 and 2013. He also worked at Kenyatta National Hospital as a Consultant Periodontologist and headed the Clinical Department of Periodontology and Periodontics between 1982 and 1985.
Prof. Kaimenyi was promoted to the position of full Professor of Periodontology in 1998 and has a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Dental Sciences at the University of Nairobi, Master of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Mangalore and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Nairobi.
Prof. Kaimenyi has published widely in his area of specialization in the field of Periodontology. He has to his credit over 24 well researched peer review publications in both local and international scientific journals to his credit. He has also attended and presented numerous scientific papers at numerous conferences both nationally and internationally.
Ethiopia – Ministry of Education
- HE Shiferaw Shigute, Minister
H.E. Shiferaw Shigutie Wolassa is Minister of Education for the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia as of July 2013. Prior to his current position he served the country in senior management roles since 1993.
He has served in state government in one of the largest regions, the Southern Nations and Nationalities Peoples Region (SNNPR), as Head of Department in different sectors such as the Regional State Audit Bureau and the Capacity Building Coordination Bureau. He also served as Deputy-President of Regional State Government.
Finally, before becoming the Minster of Education, he was President of the SNNPR for more than seven years.
His Excellency Minister Shiferaw Shigutie received his Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from the Azusa Pacific University in California, USA.
Ethiopia – Ministry of Science & Technology
- HE Demitu Hambisa, Minister
“The F.D.R.E Science and Technology Ministry has a vision of entrenching the capabilities which enable rapid learning, adaptation and utilization of effective foreign technologies by the year 2023 G.C. Moreover, it has a mission to create a technology transfer framework that enables the building of national capabilities in technological learning, adaptation & utilization through searching, selecting and importing effective foreign technologies in manufacturing and service providing enterprises.”
This year the summit is held under the patronage of the Government of Uganda and led by host Minister Hon Dr Jessica Alupo, Minister of Education, Science, Technology & Sports. The summit will also include the participation of HE President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
